Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

SDG Targets

VDG's Initiatives

8.1  Sustain per capita economic growth in accordance with national circumstances and, in particular, at least 7 per cent gross domestic product growth per annum in the least developed countries

By sourcing reused plastics from least developed countries for our placement friendly turbine, and by using local companies for distributing and servicing the turbines, we help generate jobs in those countries.

8.2 Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors

By repurposing materials for our turbines, we are pursuing innovative value creation and resource efficiency. The tracking of materials using Empower’s blockchain technology enables us to account for the materials’ origin and journey through the value chain, as well as track individual turbines via a product passport.

By recycling materials such as ocean plastic, Ventum creates jobs for those involved in ocean clean-ups and the value chain activities associated with repurposing the resources until they reach their final application in the technology. Through developing a novel, renewable, and sustainable energy solution, Ventum increases demand from suppliers and thereby creates jobs in a range of industry sectors associated with component manufacture, as well as by connecting with new partners and vendors that distribute, install, and service the technology.

By focusing not only on energy innovation but also on circularity, weather data collection from turbines, and material efficiency, we are able to encourage value creation across a diverse variety of sectors.

8.4 Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production, with developed countries taking the lead

We are working on creating a Product as a Service model for our turbines in order to distribute and safely reclaim them at the end of their life cycle, after which the materials from the turbines will be reused and recycled.

Additionally, we are cooperating with companies such as Ogoori, which provides us with ocean plastic that has been collected on beaches for use in our turbines. Thus, nature will be cleaned up and innovative, renewable energy solutions will be provided.

Our strategies and plans for achieving the sustainable development goals may include or be based on forward-looking statements.

Forward-looking statements express our aims or projections about future events.

These statements can be identified by the fact that they do not strictly refer to historical or current events. They use terms such as “anticipate,” “estimate,” “expect,” “project,” “intend,” “believe,” and “plan” and other words to describe initiatives and strategies.
